The Upper Sacramento is a world famous
fly fishing destination that flows for over 30 miles between
Lake Siskiyou and Shasta Lake and is a wade-fishing
paradise with a great mix of deep pools, riffles, and pocket
water. Open to fly fishing year-round, this river is
known for its large wild rainbows, beautiful scenery, and
prolific hatches. Concurrent hatches of mayflies,
stoneflies, midges, and caddisflies happen almost everyday
throughout the spring, summer, and fall. On any given
day, it is likely you will fish dry flies, nymphs, and
streamers.
Catch & keep
area extends in Dunsmuir from Scarlet Way bridge to the mouth
of Soda Creek near Castle Crags State Park. Within the
Dunsmuir city limits are a variety of fishing access areas
easily reached by car and a short walk. Many can be fished
both from the bank and in the river.
Access to the
river from Cedar Pines RV Resort is just a short walk to the
water. Cedar Pines RV Resort is in Zone 2, five
fish per day limit area.
